Wes was born in Washington D.C. It wasn't long before it became obvious that he loved to draw. As a boy he toured with his family in an act that combined music, theater, and visual elements. This strengthened his already developing talents for art and music. A love for the classic comic books of the sixties also influenced the development of his personal drawing style, inspired by illustrators like Neal Adams, Gene Colan, Jack Kirby, and Gil Kane (to name just a few). Many nights were spent at his drawing table creating comix. Picking up the electric guitar in high school he formed his first band. The visceral kick of amplified music and live performance put art in the background. Recently, after years as a songwriter, vocalist and lead guitarist, Wes has returned to his first passion, drawing, as his main creative outlet. Wes enjoys classic movies from the 30s - 50s such as "Casablanca" or "Boom Town" and especially old science fiction like "The Day The Earth Stood Still" or "When Worlds Collide". His favorite authors include Isaac Asimov, Arthur C Clarke, and Kurt Vonnegut. Currently living in Los Angeles with his wife and two cats Wes continues to work on comix and art and has plans to record and post some of his music here on the site. |
